San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board Committees
Below is a list of the Workforce Development Board Committees providing guidance and oversight over owrkforce development activities funded by the Workforce Innovation & opportunity Act (WIOA). Click on a committee name for more information.
Legislative Advocacy Committee
Develops the strategy for advocacy and information with respect to legislative issues at state and federal levels. Committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11:00 a.m.
Oversees WIA fiscal operations, reviews contract proposals and makes recommendations to full WIB on local policies, procedures and definitions consistent with Federal and State laws and regulations. Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12:00 p.m.
Business Resource Committee
The charge of this committee is to target various community resources to align the Workforce Investment Board/Department of Workforce Development with industry training needs. The Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 2:00 p.m.
Economic Development & Business Resource Committee
Serves to structure services to businesses and promote economic growth and development.
Economic Development Committee
Oversees analysis of the local labor market to ensure that the SBCWIB is meeting the needs of current and new employers. Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
Special Populations Commitee
Identifies resources and services for special populations and improves accessibility for individuals with disabilities, veterans, the re-entry population, and Native Americans.
Focuses on assistinig with coordinating youth activities and making recommendations related to grants and contracts for the provision of services to WIOA eligible youth.
Develops portions of the Strategic Plan relating to youth, coordinates youth activities and makes recommendations on grants and contracts to serve WIA eligible youth. The Youth Council meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3:00 p.m.
Consists of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Second Vice-Chair, and the Chair of each standing committee. It advises the General Board on strategic planning, policy, and direction.
Policy making entity with authority under WIOA to direct, invest in, and support workforce development activities. The board's mission is to "Promote a workforce development system that supports economic vitality by creating opportunities for businesses, employees and job seekers."
